Question:

Eyes Hurting?

Yesterday i had an eye examination. The examiner ruled out any eye problems and ruled out glaucoma.

I was born with a larger cupped disk than normal but he said this was normal. I also have myopia in my right eye and need glasses for it.

When i went to the doctors he shined a light in my eye and for a few days after my eyes hurt. Yesterday i went for the exam and again, he shined lights in my eye, and they are hurting again.

Anyone had this before?

  1. It is not uncommon for myopic people to have increased cup to disk ratios because often the nerve is slightly tilted as it enters the back of the eye. Shining a light in the eye causes the iris to constrict rapidly and can cause a mild ache for awhile. If the ache persists, then see an ophthalmologist to rule out inflammation, etc.

  2. Think you have photophobia so you need to talk with your ophthalmologist as there are quite a number of causes for this- only an M.D. should be consulted regarding eye problems (personal opinion).
