Question:

Eyes are red?

This has been happening for many months already.

I wear contacts and believe redness was due to contacts. However, I prescribed another pair of contacts and still has not been resolved. Then, I take my glasses off for awhile and still, my eyes are red. I have used Systane Eye drops during the day and Genteal each night before sleep. I am trying to stay away from the visine because I have been using that a lot before these eyes drops and heard visine can make things worse.

I have been to two doctors saying the same result. However, this result has not worked. Both doctors told me to wash my eyes with a warm towel because my glands in my eye are very dry. This has not been working for me at all.

I will go to one of those doctors again in a few weeks but it is doubtful that he will offer good help. I am not aware of any allergies. I get about 6-7 hours of sleep each night. I have looked at very similar questions and well, my eyes are still red. = (

  1. irritation or what your doctor said?

  2. then get off the pc and put in some eye drops  in

  3. Could be the nasal passage. You don't have to wipe your eyes, you can put a warm cloth over them and if it is the nasal cavity, use a netti pot. If that doesn't work, look up an otolaryntologist (Eyes/ears/nose/throat doctor).

  4. Ok, I had a similar problem with my contacts.

They told me it might be something that's on the contact not the contact by itself. It depends on what type of contact solution you are using. I would suggest using a pure saline solution to rinse the contact with before you put it in your eye. you can get the really cheep stuff, it all works. So fill the container with what you normally put in there then rinse it with saline solution before you put it in your eye.

Also try using a cold wash cloth and just lay it over your eyes (your eyes are closed), do that until it gets warm. That will get the blood circulating and everything circulating. Do that everyday 1-3 times. I usually only did it once, but shh don't tell anyone.

I use regular old Alcon Opti-Free, Renu stung my eyes, Clear Cear has 3% Peroxide so if you use that you can't rinse the contact with it and you have to follow the instructions carefully, other Opti-Frees. Just all of those i would use a pure saline solution.

Saline solution doesn't have any of the soaps or anything in it. It's the stuff that the contacts generally will come in, depending on what type of contact you get. All of my different kinds so far have all came in a saline solution. It's basically just a rinse, but if you need to you can put it in your case too, but i don't.

    Hope that helped

Oh yeah mine were also too dry so blink more, put in some contact eye drops, don't stare at the tv/computer for long long periods at a time, and get maybe an hour more of sleep atleast. Try to get between 7-9 hours. That's the least amount of sleep that you need to be fully rested. If you aren't your eyes will be tired and your brain will be saying sleep and your body will be saying stay awake, so get atleast another hour of sleep also.

  5. put eye drops they have moisterizing ones for contacts.

  6. Well if you wake up with stuff all over your eyes then it could be pink eye, but they would have found it all ready. If they hurt you could have something in you inner eye and you should tell you doctor to good deep in you eye and to filp you eye lid. Also if you have been taking some eye drops them stop!! you could be reacting to it and ask you docter about them. You should also talk to you doctor about this eye condsions.

  7. 6-7 hours is not enough sleep. You need more sleep than that. Go to bed earlier and try to catch up on sleep on the weekends. Don't stare too long into the computer either. You need to turn away and close your eyes for a minute at least every 1/2 hour your using it. Also forgot to add, that sleeping with a sleep mask for a while can help your eyes heal. Your eyes might have tiny scratches in them it happened to me in the past. The reason for the mask over your eyes is that it keeps air from drying out your eyes which believe it or not can stay slightly open while you sleep. This air hitting the eye keeps your eyes dry and don't give them a chance to heal. I put a night eye cream (it's a dry eye cream called "something PM" forgot the full name but you can find it in the drugstore and it's made for nighttime. You need to do this in order for your eyes to heal and get it's moisture and health back. Your not supposed to use contacts until your eyes heal. Wait until they look and feel better.
