  1. I'm assuming it's your vision insurance that only allows you to be seen every two years.  If you have medical insurance and there is a complaint that falls under a medical diagnosis, you shouldn't have to wait 2 years, it should be covered as an office visit.  If it's just an updated prescription you need, you can ask to have only the refraction (the part used to determine the glasses prescription) at a much lesser cost than a full exam would be.  At 62 years of age, there should at least be the medical diagnosis of cataracts that could be used.  I'm assuming you are in the USA.  If you are in another country with another health system, I don't know if the above applies.

  2. yer its harsh, my aunty's having truble with her eyes but cant aford to pay, but some oppitions are doing free eyetests...

or join a new opptictions and say you have never had them tested and then they'll give you the free one ;)

  3. If someone has a healthy eye and no hereditary stuff in their family and no major changes from one time to another, my doctor will recommend one exam every two years. If there are hereditary or other health issues, or a non stable RX he will want to see you every year. Unfortunately, you are the one responsible for your own health care. Not being able to afford it sucks, but that is the way it is. You have to pay for the services of a working Doctor. They just can not work for free. Does your insurance cover any eye care at all? Most Exams do not go much over $120. You might have to save a bit every month to be able to afford health care for your eyes if your insurance does not cover it. Sorry.
