I'm an airline pilot and i need to pass my medical examination every year in order to fly. What concerns me most is the eye test. Can anyone tell me how to improve or not let your eyesight deteriorate anymore??

(I do not have perfect eyesight and I'm wearing spectacles now, my visual acuity is 20/200 or 6/60 now without optical aids)

  1. To stop it from getting worse you need to reduce eyestrain.  Are you on a PC a lot?  Read a lot?  Get up every 20 minutes and let your eyes rest for 5 minutes.  Spend that time looking out a window or otherwise exercise your long distance vision.

If/when your vision stabilizes you can look into getting lasik.  They do higher-order correction now that can give you better vision than anything you can have with eye glasses or contacts.

  2. I doubt very much if you have ever been on the flight deck of an aircraft.

But if you have and you are looking at ways to cheat the system, try to remember what your responsibilities are.

I just checked on VA and found that you are bloody near blind.  You must be wearing coke bottle bottoms for glasses.

Good one mate - hope your dog is ok.

  3. LASIK.

  4. just like the rest of our body, our eyes respond to special exercises.

Try sending away for the "read without glasses method." you get a dvd and a chart to help with your eyes.

apparently, it's supposed to help you improve your eyesight, and you can even get rid of your glasses in around 40 days.

this will not only help your eyesight naturally, but it will fix the problem permanently, without surgery.
