The Argentine’s agent calms talks of an imminent move while keeping the door open for a future transfer; insists Pocho loves Napoli and a summer transfer is unlikely.
The agent of Napoli striker, Ezequiel Lavezzi, has revealed that his client is not looking to leave Stadio San Paolo in the near future.
While talking to Radio Crc, the agent clarified things by stating:
“Pocho loves Napoli. It makes no sense to speak today about the market.”
The statement is an attempt to calm speculations that arose after the Azzurri star remarked Premier League and La Liga as the places where every top player dreams of playing. The statement was given after the star netted twice
in the midweek UEFA Champions League win over Chelsea.
El Pocho was heavily linked with Manchester City throughout the summer transfer window, and the Eastland’s club is still believed to be tracking him. Roberto Mancini’s side has reportedly agreed to pay the 35 million Euros buyout
clause in the striker’s contract.
However, the agent insists that the buyout clause is not an apple of discord between the club and the player, and insists that Lavezzi has good terms with the club bosses.
“As well as this is Napoli’s good relationship with Lavezzi. I do not think the President has an issue with the buyout clause, but, if any problem should arise then the club and the player will take the right decisions.”
He went onto confirm that club President Aurelio De Laurentiis wants the Napoli spearhead to stay at the club, but it is not the right time to talk about the former San Lorenzo star’s future. He went on to praise the Azzurri coach
and admitted that Mazzarri has played a big role in the player’s career.
“[Walter Mazzarri] has played an important role in the maturation of Lavezzi. My client is of an age that allows him to feel comfortable; this is an excellent time both as a player and a man.”
The 26-year-old has scored seven goals in 28 matches in all competitions this season.
