Paris Saint-Germain are set to face the Spanish giants in the knockout stages of the Champions League with majority of pundits tipping the Ligue 1 outfit to see the better of their rivals
The cash-laden club from Paris are favourites to win the two-legged clash with La Liga side, Valencia CF, in the 2012/2013 Champions League competition. However, Paris Saint-Germain forward, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ezequiel-Lavezzi-c13073, has demanded respect from his side as the player
rates the Spanish side in high regards.
The Argentine international was talking to the official website of UEFA and when asked about his views regarding PSG’s upcoming games against Valencia, the player had only good things to say about their opponents. The former Napoli player said that although
he hasn’t watched Valencia play recently, he is well aware of the threat the Spanish side poses to Les Parisiens.
"I'm like http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Leo-c22011 [Messi] in that I don't watch matches when I'm not playing, but I know Valencia demand a lot of respect," Lavezzi told the official UEFA website.
Praising their European opponents, Lavezzi said that http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Valencia-CF-c40864 are very strong technically and the players are really good on ball. In addition to that, a clear edge Valencia have over PSG is the amount of European experience they have.
"They're technically strong, they like to be on the ball and to use it well – and, to go back to my basic point, Valencia have lots of Champions League experience.”
The Paris Saint-Germain forward added that experience is very important in Europe as Chelsea managed to turn things around http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Napoli-c40003 last season because of their Champions League experience.
"I've learned in this competition that teams with experience have an advantage. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 were one of those last season and we paid for it at Napoli.”
Lavezzi said that PSG have done pretty well in the Champions League so far but the real test starts now. There is no room for error and if the Ile giants want to do well in Europe, they need to respect Valencia and play with full potential against the Spanish
outfit.
"Our first stage in this tournament was good, but now it's at the stage where there can be no mistakes."
