Hi everyone,

I am curious about my situation and confused what to do.I came to US two years ago on a visit visa B-1/B-2 and after 5 months I convert my visa to F-1 student. Now I am almost finishing my Masters, 8 more months to go but now I am marrying to permanent resident. My future wife almost finished her time period for green card and going to apply for her citizenship in few months.

My question is

1)Can i get work authorization through marriage ?

2)Can i continue my education and graduate?

  1. Yes you can get work authorization when you apply for your greencard through marriage. WAIT until your wife is a citizen though and you will save yourself several years of waiting..... green card through marriage to a citizen takes about 6 months, green card through marriage to a Prem. Resident takes anout 6 years! Once you are a green card holder you can work or go to school anywhere you want. YOur F1 Visa is valid whilst you are processing your greencard application
