F-1 visa.Can I apply for F-1 visa from a country other than my country? Please answer fast?

i live in Egypt but im from Ethiopia. Can i apply for F1 visa from Egypt to US. will i be asked to go back to my country and apply form there...oh and i go U. of Cairo/ thank you.

Yes You can but its usually best to apply from where you live.For instance if you are from Ethiopia and live in Egypt Legally and have a resident card/or other long term visa then.No problem go and apply in Cairo

If you don't have such status then go to Ethiopia and apply there.The Embassy wont stop you from applying in Cairo but it will be harder for them to approve your application since you have to show ties to where you reside and that can be quite difficult if you don't live where you are applying.Best of luck

ํYes, you can but the chance is slim unless you have proofs that you live in that country for certain reason for example: your parents are on non-immigrant work visas in that country. In most cases, the embassy will ask you to apply from your home country.
