F-1 visa with OPT --should I go home. 10 points for the best advice. Thank you?

I have been holding F-1 Visa for 6 years. I have BA of Political Science and MPA (HR Management). I have OPT to work in the US for a year (2008-2009). However, I have not found a job. They don't want to hire because of my visa status. It is hard to find a job in my fields because I have very little experiences (22 years old), not a US citizen, and not a native English speaker.

I have been applied for many international and domestic non-profit organizations in the past 4 moths. I have been to many job interviews, but no jobs offer.

Do I have any hopes? OR Should I go back home?

I am from Thailand. I don't mind going back home, but it would be nice to work here for a year. I wonder whether it will get worst or better. I mean economy and life in the US in general.

Any sincere advice. Thank you.

  1. Frankly, H1b is for people who has advanced degree or very high level experiece, so for you to get job will be hard but certainly not impossible. Any company who will hire you has to file a petition on your behalf and they have to justify that why they are hiring you. I am sure there will be tons of people with same qualification. I will advice you to check with your international students coordinator as if you have graduated this year OPT period is 27 months, so if thats the case you, can look for job longer. Try to find job in Thailand based companies in US because it makes sense for them to hire you as you will be bilingual.

  2. I would say that it depends on your english skills, if people are having a hard time understanding what you are saying that you won't be getting a job regardless of your visa status.
