I'd take the F-16, partly because I don't speak russian, but I'll always bet on the pilot with more experience in a pure dogfight situation.

Definitely Mig-29.Its more powerful and reliable with its twin engine compared to F-16'S single engine.

Hmm..what about the US Patriot Pac-2 surface to air missles?Once launch they can go up to Mach 5 and at an altitude of 24km while the Mig-25 Foxbat flew at an altitude of 20.7km(67,915 ft).So,these two aircraft you mention wasnt appopriate at all.If you're talking about the 70's mayb there is a chance of an outrun.Missiles have a very great improvement over the last 4 decades.

F-16: Mach 2, service ceiling: 50,000+ feet

MIG 29: Mach 2.3, service ceiling: 59,000+ feet

MIG 25: Mach 3.2, service ceiling: 123,000+ feet

At Mach 3.2 both the MIG 25 and the SR-71 can outrun missiles fired at them.

The SR-71 has a service ceiling in excess of 85,000 feet, so it just keeps on trucking as the Patriot falls short of reaching it.  The MIG-25 does the same thing.

The Patriot missile has a ceiling of 78,000 feet and a distance range of only 300,000 feet. The Patriot is designed for missiles coming toward it, not aircraft. That includes the PAC-2, the PAC-3 and PAC-4.

It would be the MiG-29 and that is proven beyond any doubt.

The post-unification Luftwaffe had pitted these two against each other and the MiG-29 had performed better. It even outclassed the F-15, a genuine air superiority fighter.

In the Indo-Pakistan Kargil war the Pak F-16s were unable to counter the Indian MiG-29s that were used for the air-superiority role.

what do you want performance figures or what. F16 probably

both are excellent aircraft, and have their strong and weak points. if you are talking about BVR, the mig 29 is the way to go. if you are talking about a "knife fight" the F16 is the way to go. in between the pilot makes the difference.
