Question:

F'ed Up TV?

I have a 27 inch Sony TV that has been acting very strangely recently. If I turn it on, the picture is clear for a few minutes, but after about 5 minutes the picture gets so dark it's nearly impossible to distinguish anything. If I turn it off and turn it right back on, it's slow to turn back on (takes about 10 seconds) but the picture is clear, but after another 5 minutes, the picture sucks again. What the heck could be wrong? Would it be worth the money to fix it, or (as I am guessing) would it be more practical to just buy a new TV? This one is WAY past its warranty (my dad bought it for my mom to watch when she was on bedrest while pregnant with my sister back in 1988) and it's 20 years old...

  1. Chances are it will be cheaper to buy a new one. It could  be something really simple, but it might not and you get stuck with a bill, or even worse an estimate for repair and they charge you just to "look at it".

I had the same thing happen with my laptop, it was 6 years old. I planned on getting a new one in December, but it died. :P so I had to save for a new one. Sucked.

    *hugs* missed you!!
