F/T job keeping me from enrolling into college, should I quit?

My boss can't change my schedule, I need to be there early in the morning to open the office and work till the evening to close it. I can't afford to lose my job and I was thinking of trying to work F/T and go to college, but is it possible? will certain courses/academic programs be less available to me? I live in the greater LA area, and jobs are hard to find here...

  1. Depends.  Do you see this as a job, or a career?  If you'd want to stay even after you got your degree, then part-time evening classes might be worth it.  If not, start hunting and/or investigate your financial aid options.  Obviously you want to avoid as much debt as you can, but a little bit might be worthwhile if you can earn it back with a higher salary once you have your degree.

  2. Yes anything is possible! I work F/T, a mother, and a wife and go to a university P/T.

What you can do is enroll at a nearby college; see if they happen to have on-line classes that you can do at home or at a nearby library.

This can be done; just hang in there.

  3. hi, im in the SAME boat, i dont live in the LA area, but thought i'd offer some advice...have you thought about online classes, or taking evening classes.  that way you can keep your job and still further your career.  hope you find a way out of you dilemma.
