F1 2009: Nico and Nico?

Will Nico Hulkenberg partner Nico Rosberg next year at Williams? Hulkenberg is currently their test driver.

I think it will be interesting. (I know Nakajima hasn't been doing too badly) Both race under the German flag, both are named Nico (like Seb and Seb at STR this year). Is this partnership possible?

  1. I think it could be possible, since Nakajima is really horrible!

Hülkenberg is currently managed by Willi Weber, the long-time manager of Michael Schumacher. Weber has gone on record saying that Hülkenberg would be ready for Formula One by 2008. He has also praised Hülkenberg as an "unbelievable talent" and says he reminds him of Schumacher as a young driver and that's a true compliment!

  2. Next year will be time for Rosberg to move on, so he'll have do it whether Williams want to keep him or not.

So I don't see it happening.

  3. I don't think we know for sure. But who knows... he's already made his way up this far to be a test driver for Williams. Yep it will be interesting :]

  4. It's more likely that one Nico will replace the other, especially if Rosberg can't get the Williams on the podium for the rest of this season. Rosberg will be going head to head with Hamilton at McLaren next season unless the Williams improves dramatically.

  5. Possibly possible!

I think at the moment Hulkenberg would only get a drive at Williams if Rosberg moved to another team, as Nakajima, love or hate him has a habit of finding points and comes with Toyota's money ( Toyota being Williams engine supplier) and as long as that points and cash partnership continues, I think the 2 Nico's won't be driving together. (soon anyway).

  6. Nakajima was placed in the Williams seat as a part of the Toyota engine deal and is not likely to be dumped too soon.. for fear of ructions with Toyota... and he's a pretty quick driver...

Hulkenberg has looked quick, but lots of F3 drivers do... the experience is what they're giving him really... with a view to perhaps give a seat in the future.. or present him with opportunties with other teams... Its a leg-up, but not necessarily to a Williams race seat... mostly down to Kasuki's situation (quick driver from good engine deal - double bonus)
