F1 2010 season: Lewis Hamilton Vs Jenson Button
McLaren has had a great season so far. Both its drivers Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button have shown great form and pace all through the season and currently Hamilton stands at second place having bagged a total of one hundred and
eighty two points whereas Button occupies fourth place with one hundred and sixty five points under his belt.
The hype and expectation from McLaren was high even before the season started. Hamilton was already in the same team while Button was picked up from last year’s Champion team Brawn GP, now called Mercedes GP, hence giving McLaren
two very competitive and celebrated drivers.
Both the British drivers had been able to bag one championship each during their career with formula One, Hamilton got his title in 2008, the youngest champion of Formula One history while Button stands as the current Championship
defender.
Of course the season has seen better racing and subsequently better points from Hamilton as he currently stands at second place in the charts but nevertheless Button’s chances of winning the championship are also bright.
As the season started off, the very first race in Bahrain brought third position to Hamilton while seventh came to Button. The next race held in Australia brought the first victory of the season to McLaren as the thirty year old
driver grabbed his first win while Hamilton stood here at sixth.
The Malaysian Grand Prix was an average race for the team as the two were together able to add only another twelve points to the teams’ bank.
However, good luck bounced back at Chinese Grand Prix as the senior driver bagged his second race win while his teammate Hamilton occupied second place once again.
Stars disappeared for the team, as at the Spanish Grand Prix the title defender ended at fifth place while his teammate finished fourteenth. More bad luck followed the two in the next race as Button retired in Monaco while Hamilton
ended his day at fifth position.
However, fortunes came to the team’s side as the Formula One caravan entered its next destination, Turkey. At the Istanbul track the team had a one-two finish as Hamilton collected his first victory while Button ended at second
place. The same one-two finish was once gain embraced by them at Montreal, which brought the team to the top of Constructors’ Standings while Hamilton took the peak of Drivers’ Championship.
The next round of the season, the European Grand Prix gave another fine finish to the team as this time again Button followed Hamilton’s tail taking second and third place finish respectively.
Next race at Silverstone saw Button at fourth while Hamilton once again shone bright on the podium for second place.
However, Hamilton did not show a lot of form in the last four races, as he retired in two of them while ended one at fourth place. The only good race seen by him in last two months was in Belgium where he bagged his third victory
of the season.
On the other hand Button ended fifth in Germany while eighth in Hungary. He met a lot of disappointment at the Belgian Grand Prix where he had to retire from the race after having a crash with Sebastian Vettel due to his poor driving,
which apparently dimmed his chances for the title. However, in the last race in Italy he once again emerged as a strong competitor after having his race finished at second place.
Of course the team as well as all the McLaren fans have kept their fingers crossed as they anticipate for the next round of the season at Singapore wishing to see the team perform brilliantly once again.
