F1 2011 tops the PC charts
It has been another seven days since the last video game sales figures for United Kingdom were announced and the latest figures are in and make for some interesting reading; especially with a new game racing its way to the top spot.
Starting things off from the number 10 spot and it seems that World of Warcraft: Cataclysm just cannot be beaten off the charts. The game continues to sell enough copies to maintain, albeit barely, a spot in the top 10 slots on the chart.
As always, no PC chart is complete without the inclusion of at least 5,000 ‘The Sims’ titles. While that previous figure may be a bit of an exaggeration, the fact that four out of the ten spots in the charts are Sims titles should put everything in perspective.
At number nine is The Sims Medieval. Whether it is a fantasy for many to be living in ‘yee olden times’ or just a case of wanting every Sims experience possible, it seems gamers in United Kingdom cannot get enough of the game.
Coming in at number 8 is one of the expansion packs for the Sims 3, with The Sims 3: Late Night. Much like our previous week’s banter, we wonder why the gamers in UK are not out celebrating an actual late night instead of sitting at home and playing the
virtual version, but then again who are we to judge.
Debuting in at number seven is the ominously titled, Red Orchestra 2: Heroes of Stalingrad, while Football Manager 2011 manages to keep up its consistent performance in the sales charts and finishes on the number six spot.
Square Enix’s epic adventure, Deus Ex: Human Revolution is still selling strong and kicks off our top five countdown. With a DLC just around the corner, the sales should stay consistent for the next few weeks at least.
The Sims 3: Generations, another Sims title, is outselling Deus Ex at the number 4 spot and last week’s top spot holder, Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine, has been knocked off its perch and fallen to third place.
The Sims 3 is making its publisher, Electronic Arts, proud by raking in a steady stream of revenue as gamers buy this title first and like a first drug in an addiction, leads on to other things, namely expansion packs.
Yet like the high octane, blisteringly fast cars that race around its circuits, F1 2011 has raced its way to the top spot as PC gamers take to the track in Codemaster’s latest release.
Will F1 2011 still be at the top come next week? Keep it here at Bettor.com to find out.
