F1 News: Jenson Button will go down fighting this season

They say it is not over, until it is over. McLaren driver Jenson Button strongly believes that the tug of war for the F1 title is still not over for him despite the mishap he has had at the Belgian Grand Prix last week.
Last years’ Champion Jenson Button has been striving hard for the title right from the start of this season. However, his chances are fading away as the British racer was forced out of the race after crashing with Red Bull driver, Sebastian Vettel at Spa-Francorchamps last week.
The crash was a result of a poor move that Vettel made while attempting to prevent his car from spinning at the wet tracks in Belgium. Button, who has been shattered after the accident, has gone 35 points adrift from his team-mate Lewis Hamilton who tops the charts at the moment.
Nevertheless, Button still believes that he still has the capability to turn the tables around. Lady luck will have to come to his aide if this happens.
When asked by media about his chances of winning the title had completely drowned, Jenson Button replied, "Definitely not. I was very dejected after the race and was very down, but in reality 35 points is not that much.”
He further said that as per last year’s point strategy, the difference is actually 14 points which is not unachievable with six races still to go. Button is hopeful that if he wins even one race, his chances for the title will be bright once again.
The most encouraging thing for Button at the moment is his firm belief in the team. The team management as well as his teammate has vowed time and again that no team orders would be followed rather both the drivers would be given equal support till the last race of the season.
An excited further said, "I've got a great team-mate in Lewis, we've both won world championships in the past, and the great thing is we are given equal equipment. It is exactly what it should be and that is the way you want to win a championship."
While talking about the incident at Spa, Button generously revealed that Vettel even called him up after the crash on Sunday night while they were still in Belgium and apologized for the crash that resulted in both drivers losing their positions.
"Seb called me after the race in the evening to apologise for the accident he caused, which was good, but it doesn't give me my points back," the title defender exposed. Button though was much furious on the race day later exclaimed that "He didn't do it on purpose. It was definitely a mistake, but I was the person who paid the price. That is the pity for me. But we've got to put that behind us and look forward now."
Button further wrote on his own official website on Thursday where he dismissed the accusations from Red Bull Racing that Button was also involved in the mishap as he braked moments earlier than he should have.
"After the race, I actually checked the data with my race engineer, and it shows that I braked at exactly the same point on the lap before the collision," wrote Button.
Currently, the racer stands fourth in the Drivers’ Championship, one place behind Vettel, having bagged a total of 147 points while Vettel has 171 points under his belt so far.
Only more than a week is left before cars will assemble at Monza to unfold more drama and action.
