F1 News: Red Bull Team Principal Christian Horner vows not to favour either of his drivers
Red Bull Racing’s team boss Christian Horner claims that his team will not favour either Mark Webber or Sebastian Vettel in the Drivers’ championship race and stated that the drivers will have to work things out on the track themselves
if they want to win the title. There were a lot of rumours that the team was going to favour Mark Webber in the title chase as there are just 2 races left in the 2010 season and Mark is in 2nd place just 11 points behind the championship leader
Fernando Alonso, while his teammate Sebastian Vettel is 25 points adrift in the drivers’ standings.
However, Christian Horner claims that he will not force Vettel in any way to play as a wing man for Mark Webber in the remaining two races.
“We have two fantastic drivers and we will continue to support both equally in line with Red Bull's credible sporting ethos,” Horner told Red Bull's official website.
This championship has been a rollercoaster ride and one can expect anything to happen anytime. No one even dreamed that Mark Webber would lose his 14 points lead over Fernando after just a single race. Therefore, Sebastian Vettel’s
deficit of just 25 points is not a big deal as it is just a race win according to the new points system.
“As we saw in Korea it is impossible to predict what will happen with five drivers being so closely in contention. For example, with 10 laps to go Sebastian had moved into the lead of the championship, with Alonso then moving into
the lead following our bad luck,” added the team boss.
Christian believes that its just about the situation both of the drivers are put in as they are both capable of twisting their driving skills in a good way in any situation they are forced to face. The mathematical figures have
not played a huge part in this year’s championship; therefore, Christian Horner does not consider the figures anymore.
Sebastian Vettel stated that he is not going to give up on the championship yet as he still has a chance and no one can blame him.
“My chances? They are how they are, but as long as I have a tiny chance. We have two races to go and we saw in Korea how quickly things can change. Let's wait to see what Abu Dhabi brings,” said Vettel.
