F1 News: Red Bull dominates the first practice session in Brazil; is Fernando Alonso in trouble?
Team Red Bull scored the result they required to begin the race weekend at Interlagos as Sebastian Vettel scored the fastest time of the first practice session. The German was a comfortable half a second ahead of his teammate Mark
Webber, who finished behind Vettel. It was an interesting session with a lot of action and it seemed that Red Bull was going in the right direction since the beginning of the session.
Ferrari, on the other hand, struggled vitally as Fernando Alonso was not able to score a good result and halted due to some technical problems with just 10 minutes remaining in the session. Fernando bagged a disappointing 13th place
ahead of his teammate Felipe Massa in 14th place.
Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button, however, were on the right track as they finished in 3rd and 4th places respectively behind the two Red Bulls. This was quite a statement from both Red Bull and McLaren as
they required these results desperately in the beginning of this weekend to pressurize the Spaniard (who tops the current championship table with 231 points) and take maximum advantage.
The teams drove in dry conditions with no problems at all on the track and it seemed that almost all the teams, with the exception of Ferrari, were happy with the conditions and the track.
Renault’s Robert Kubica was able to give another great performance as he finished as the fifth fastest in his Renault. Robert just keeps getting better and better with every race and it seems that he has all the qualities of a
Formula 1 champion. The only thing left for him to do is sign with a good team in order to help him win the title.
Mercedes’ Nico Rosberg was able to finish ahead of his teammate once again, leaving frustrated Michael Schumacher in 8th place ahead of Williams’ Rubens Barrichello in 7th place.
Adrian Sutil was able to finish in 9th place, followed by BMW Sauber’s Nick Heidfeld in 10th place to complete the top 10.
Red Bull was clearly the best team by a mile and it seems that Red Bull has drawn first blood in Brazil for the 2nd last race of the season.
