F1 News: Red Bull maintains its lead in the second practice session of the Brazilian Grand Prix
After completely dominating the first practice session in Brazil, Red Bull proved that they are the better team at the Brazilian Circuit in Sao Paulo and that they are more consistent than their rivals McLaren or Ferrari.
It seemed that the second Friday practice session was a repeat of the first session, as Sebastian Vettel and Mark Webber returned to the track in a similar way and completely dominated once again, with Sebastian topping the lap
time classification followed by his teammate Mark Webber in 2nd place.
It seemed that Mark Webber would top the charts as he led through most of the 2nd session but his teammate came back with a bang once again and scored the quickest lap scored at Interlagos in the two practice session.
Fernando Alonso was able to score a good result this time unlike his first run. Fernando finished in 3rd place this time, followed by Lewis Hamilton in 4th place. Fernando’s teammate Felipe Massa finished
behind the British driver in 5th place. Robert Kubica was able to bag another great performance as he finished in 6th place just 2 tenths behind Felipe, keeping in mind that Renault is nowhere near a Ferrari this year.
After scoring a decent 4th place in the first session, Jenson Button struggled to perform in the 2nd session as he finished in 7th place followed by Nick Heidfeld (surprisingly enough). Nick Heidfeld
was on cloud nine as he was able to finish ahead of both of the Mercedes cars and this is the kind of performance Sauber requires from its drivers at the moment.
Nico Rosberg and Michael Schumacher finished in 9th and 10th
place to complete the top 10 for the 2nd practice session of the Brazilian Grand Prix.
It was an exciting session with some unexpected results but the news of the day was that Fernando Alonso had to change an engine. There were many rumours that this is Fernando’s last engine. However, as long as he performs well
and maintains his lead, that is all Ferrari cares about and that will be their goal for Saturday’s practice session followed by the qualifying session.
