  1. Student visas are specific to the school; you cannot use your valid visa to attend a different school.  If you apply for a new visa and are refused, the consular officer will physically cancel the old visa as well.

  2. If you cannot attend the University of Colorado for any reasons and do not register for or attend classes then the university is required by law to report this information and it will be enter into the SEVIS which therefore results in you being out-of-status and your F1 visa is void and you must apply for re-instatement.

If you fail register for and show up for classes and do not get yourself re-instated within 5 months then your visa is void regardless of what you do.

To answer your actual question, if you apply for another F1 visa for another university and you are rejected, your first visa issued for the University of Colorado will be void.

  3. Use the first visa to apply to another university.

  4. The first visa is valid for entry if you are destined to the school whose name appears on the visa, Univ. of Colo., Denver. If you never attended that school, you cannot use that visa with an I-20 for another school.

So, you can go to your interview for the second visa, and if you qualify for a new F-1 visa, you'll get one. Then you can come to the U.S. to attend the school whose name appears on the second visa.

As you never attended the Univ., of Colo., Denver, you cannot use that visa to attend a second school even if the visa has not been cancelled or isn't expired.
