I have noticed that while the race is going on, some of the crew team members are watching it on monitors wearing racing helmets..... Why do they do this?

Cheers!

  1. They are staff in the pits to change the tyres and fuel the racing care, so they need the helmets and fireproof suits to protect thenselves....

  2. They're just fire proof helmets, not racing ones, although the suits are nomex like the racing overalls, because they come into such close contact with a scorching race car. The thermal image cam is great.

They watch the same race as we do on TV, but as Val said before they see the lap times etc and stuff too.

  3. its their uniform and work regulation safety wear. they are in the garage and their drivers car may come in with little notice if they have a problem or something so they can't take their safety wear off in between normal pit stops. Its flame proof stuff in case there is an accident with fuel and a hot exhaust or something similarly nasty. What they are watching is the same coverage as us but with all the technical data on screen too. have you noticed how some of them wave to the camera? never fails to make me smile that:)

  4. if anyone of there members get killed or injured they can be replaced quickly like at pit stops if a member gets mowed down a man can be replaced quickly
