F1 news - HRT seems hopeful for Silverstone circuit

The British Grand Prix has long been one of the most celebrated and exciting races of Formula One calendar. All the teams and all the drivers are excited and thrilled as the Formula One caravan moves to the tenth destination of the season.

This year the mania of the race is even more than ever before. The current race is exciting because of the way the charts of the Drivers as well as the Constructors Championship have shaped up.  The title seems to be shifting hands every now and then; and now we are heading for the next race of the calendar with half of the season already gone and still the destiny of this year’s title is so unpredictable.

At this time, when all the teams are in a head to head contest the fans are becoming much more involved as every race is turning nail biting and spine tingling. Nine races have gone by and we have five race winners.

Before the cars move towards their next destination, HRT, a team that is claiming to grow as one of the strongest competitors of the next season talked to official website of Formula One as they move towards the Silverstone circuit.

Bruno Senna, the Brazilian driver of HRT commented that racing on a historic circuit like Silverstone is always very special. He told that he had some great memories at Silverstone as he had been able to win the GP2 in 2008 and was also able to finish on podium in one of his Formula 3 races. For Formula 1, this is his first race on the track which he thinks feels great. He told that the team is looking forward to having both the cars make to the finish at the British Grand Prix. He further commented that the track is very challenging especially because of a lot of fast corners.

At this track a car is needed that has a good level of downforce and also efficient aerodynamics to suit the track layout. For the 2010 race some modifications have been done in the track which excite and thrill the drivers.  Also the new section of the circuit called “Arena” has thrilled everyone and some of its new fast corners are expected to give a great racing spectacle.

The other HRT driver Karun Chandhok will also be having his first experience of driving with Formula One on this track. The Indian driver told that he is expecting to have a great race at Silverstone as this is his home race since he had lived in Brackley which is just five minutes away. Previously he had worked at the race school of the circuit and now as he returns here as a Formula 1 driver he explains that it is an awesome feeling. He told that he knows the track well as he has had some podium finishes here with Formula 3 and GP2. However, he added that this year, the layout is different after the revamping. He told that he had gone to the track with his bike to get familiar with the new circuit which he finds a very good one. Chandhok also told that he found the first sector of the lap very amazing especially the area between the ‘Copse corner’ and ‘Stowe’ where one hardly needs to touch the brakes. He had been very excited about the new sector which encompasses a few high speed corners that provide an opportunity to the driver to prove his driving skills as well as the aerodynamics and downforce of the car are tested.

Over all the team seems very optimistic and excited as they head towards the race this weekend. Well, today’s qualifying will tell how well prepared it really is. So keep your fingers crossed as one of the most anticipated races of the season will be witnessed, this Sunday.
