the forward clutch has failed internally. the transmission will have to be rebuilt.

If your transmission is the newer style e40d transmission the lower sprag gear went out.  I had the same thing happen to my 94 f-250.  When you are searching for transmissions check Advance for a good inexpensive transmission or jasper for a good transmission with a great warranty at a price.  Make sure you use mercon 5 transmission fluid when you fill it up, not regular mercon.  mercon 5 was the fix for their trannys going bad.

the trans is f**** and you need to replace it go to the shop and let them do the work and get it guaranteed.....

If you had one of the tranny flushes done it probably clogged up a port inside the tranny.  If not you might try changing the filter.
