F150 will help me perform even better: Fernando Alonso
Ferrari driver Fernando Alonso recently stated that he believes his team’s new car for the 2011 season will enable him to perform even better than the last season.
Alonso believes that the new Ferrari F150 will suite his driving style more than the 2010 car did. The Spaniard had a great 2010 season though he finished in second place in the drivers’ standings just 4 points behind the champion, Sebastian Vettel. Fernando
led the 2010 drivers’ standings until the very last race but unfortunately, due to a strategic Ferrari ‘blunder,’ he lost his championship lead at the grand finale in Abu Dhabi.
However, since Fernando has spent a year with the team now, he is confident that 2011 will be a lot different than the previous season.
“I am far more integrated in the team and that feeling has been carried out through 2010 and has contributed to the creation of the new car. I think that I will find it easier for me to adapt to this new car and I hope it will be as strong as it is beautiful,”
he said.
Since Kinetic Energy Recovery System and movable rear wings will be allowed in 2011, Ferrari revealed that they are going to use both of these devices and try to make full use of them.
“I am really motivated, I am really excited, 2010 was an incredible year for me and I found an incredible team, it was really passionate for me as the driver. 2011 will be a new challenge with new technical regulations and the driver will have to adapt to
new changes, such as KERS for example,” said Alonso.
Alonso admitted that there is always pressure when one is driving for a team like Ferrari but says he is determined more than ever before.
“The new car we see here is the fruit of the labour of many months' work by the people who work for Ferrari. Now we have to commit entirely to what we do and we are ready. We are up for the challenge,” added the Spaniard.
The team is expected to use its new car at the first pre-season test session in Valencia which is scheduled to take place on 1 February, 2011.
It is going to be interesting to see how the new Ferrari performs alongside the new cars of Red Bull Racing Team and Mercedes GP.
