Crawley Town’s man of the hour was forward http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Sergio-c33030 Torres who came forth with a goal in the dying moments of the match to help his team take all glory back home with a 2-1 victory.
He helped his side trash Derby County from the Championship in FA Cup during stoppage time. This feat also gave the non-league club a 4th Round FA Cup qualification at Torquay.
Miles Addison was a man on mission yet again as he made his mark after being out of action for a year. He produced the equalizer in the 62nd minute with a magnificent strike hence, announcing his comeback. Earlier, in
the first half, Craig McAllister drew first blood with a finesse finish.
Early on, Derby County missed a penalty in 10th minute. It was Kris Commons who stepped up for the job, but failed in delivering as goalkeeper Michel Kuipers was awake enough to make a brilliant save.
Later, all h**l broke loose with the help of Dean Howell, who happened to be having a good day on the field. He produced a well-placed corner that came to Torres and he made no mistakes in netting the ball.
The unsung hero of the match was Kuipers, who apart from saving the early penalty assisted in the goal with his huge counter attack clearance. Mayhem was brought in the ranks of Derby as everyone fought for the ball. Nonetheless,
the lead by the end of first half proved to be useful in the end.
Matt Tubbs was very lucky for not being slapped with a red card after his stud up two-footed tackle on Robbie Savage just before half time.
In the second half both teams brought forth waves after waves of attacks, but sturdy defending kept the score line from exploding.
Though most of the plays seen by Derby were in the second half, they had to make it up for the first half progress and that let them down. While Crawley Town had 13 attempts to score and 8 on target, Derby County had to settle
for a mere 5 attempts and 4 on target.
Overall, Crawley Town played with the intensity of winning, which caught up with them, at times, resulting in more fouls than were necessary. They committed to 10 fouls, 10 corner kicks and 7 offsides because of their attacking
formation.
Derby, on the other hand, were too timid with 6 fouls, 5 corner kicks and 2 offsides. They also had 47% of the possession in the competition as compared to 53% of Crawley.
The match could have ended disappointingly for Crawley had they not scored in the end despite the supreme in swinging free kick from Addison. Winger, Torres will definitely be receiving star treatment until the arrival of next
match. In the end, it can be stated without a doubt that Crawley won a deserved victory leading them to the 4th Round of FA Cup.
