FA Cup: Everton vs. Chelsea - Full Time Report
Everton took on Chelsea at the Goodison Park, today, in a game that they knew was going to be anything, but a walk in the park. This was because Chelsea, the current holders of the FA Cup, were looking to defend their title and
retaining the trophy this season as well.
The line-ups for the match were as follows:
Everton: http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Diniyar-Bilyaletdinov-c11318, Louis Saha
Subs: http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jose-Baxter-c19276
Chelsea: http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Nicolas-Anelka-c27786
Subs: Henrique Hilario, Mikel John Obi, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jeffrey-Bruma-c18265, Josh McEachran, Jacopo Sala
The match kicked off with both teams looking to go at it right from the onset. Both, Everton and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 created a number of chances in the opening 45 minutes, but could not turn any of those opportunities into goals, as the first
half ended with the score line reading 0-0.
However, things were quite different in the second half. Almost immediately after the restart, Everton were looking to go at it and take the game to Chelsea. This persistence from the home side eventually paid off, as in the 62nd minute,
they took the lead. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Louis-Saha-c22459 rose high to power the ball into the back of the net.
Nonetheless, just when it looked like Everton would ride out of the match in style, Chelsea got a goal back in the 75th minute.
Salomon Kalou led the break for the Blues and in the end decided to go all the way on his own. The player got past Distin with ease and slotted a low diagonal shot into the far left corner.
As a result of that goal, Chelsea had drawn the game with Everton on the night.
However, both teams were not able to find a much-needed second goal in the game and the fixture will now be replayed in the Premier League on 22 May.
