FA Cup - Full Time Report: Sheffield United vs Aston Villa 1-3
Aston Villa travelled to Bramall Lane on 8th January 2011 to take on Sheffield United in what was both the teams' scheduled match in the third round of FA Cup.
The team line-ups for the game were as follows:
SHEFFIELD UNITED: http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Kyle-Bartley-c21555, Elian Parrino
Subs: Jean Calve, David McAllister, George Long, Kingsley James, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jordan-c2929 Slew, Matt Harriot
ASTON VILLA: http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Kyle-Walker-c21566
Subs: http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Andy-Marshall-c6042
As anticipated, the match kicked off with Villa dominating United right from the first minute.
As a result, the visitors had their first goal of the fixture on the 9th minute mark. Walker ran all the way from the half way line, without really being challenged, and went on to place a shot in the lower corner of the post to secure his début
goal for Villa.
In the 33rd minute, Villa had their second goal of the game when http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ashley-Young-c6813 danced down the left hand side of the pitch, before picking up a brilliant pass to onrushing Albrighton. Marc then went on to smash the volley into the back of the net.
Later, just two minutes into the second half, Sheffield United had a penalty kick awarded to them. Cuellar went on to bring down Williamson with a fine tackle; however, the referee thought otherwise and thus awarded the home side a spot kick.
Ward stepped up to take it and drilled a shot into the back of the net in the 48th minute.
Things got a little dismal for Villa as Young was shown the red after being shown two yellow cards. The player, as a result, had to leave the game in the 77th minute.
But, Young's sending off seemed to have little effect on the visiting team, as they continued to dominate the play, all the way into the closing minutes of the match.
In the 90th minute, Villa managed to pick up their third goal of the game. Pertov combined with Albrighton, before Petrov went on to finish with clinical precision.
With this goal, the game ended as the score line read three goals to one in favour of Aston Villa.
