FA Cup Full Time Report: Tottenham Hotspur vs Charlton Athletic
Tottenham Hotspur took on Charlton Athletic in the third round of draws in the FA Cup.
The match kicked off in quite predictable fashion, with Tottenham dominating the game from almost the very first minute. However despite all their domination, the home-side just couldn't seem to find the back of the net.
After trying to open the scoring in the opening forty five minutes, Tottenham went back to the drawing board at the end of the half, to try and get their game plan re-adjusted for the resilient Charlton.
What ever Harry Redknapp told his men during the fifteen minute break, seemed to do the magic, as just four minutes after coming back on, Tottenham had the opening goal of the game.
On the 49th minute, Sandro teed up Townsend and the debutant went on to hit a low shot from twenty five yards out and his effort gave Tottenham the much deserved lead in the game.
On the 57th minute, Jermaine Defoe went on to score Tottenham's second goal. The player started off the move by beating three Charlton players and then went on to pass the ball into the back of the net.
However, the player wasn't quite done yet, just three minutes later, he had his second and Tottenham's third goal at the 60th minute mark. Defoe tested Elliot with a fine effort however, the keeper's saved shot fell back
to the striker and he made no mistake from ten yards out.
After Tottenham's third goal, the team continued to test the Charlton back-line. However, neither one of those chances resulted in another goal. Nonetheless, Tottenham didn't seem to be all that disappointed as they picked up the
win in the game and were shown just how good Townsend really is.
