FA Cup Goal Summary: Manchester City vs Manchester United
Manchester City took on Manchester United, in the biggest game of the FA Cup third round. Both the teams were looking to pick up the win, in order to have the bragging rights over their local rivals.
However, the biggest news of the day, prior to kick off was the fact that http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Paul-Scholes-c29394 had made his come back from retirement, to play as a Red Devils till the end of the season.
Manchester United went on to score the first goal of the game in the 10th minute, as http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ryan-Giggs-c31985 went on to play a through ball to Rooney. The striker then went on play a pass to Valencia. The winger then returned the ball to the striker, who headed
it into the back of the net.
United went up by two goals to nil in the 31st minute, as Welbeck scored for the visitors. Following a rebound in the box, the striker managed to pounce on the ball and send it into the goal.
Kolarov took out Welbeck in the box just minutes later and the referee pointed straight to the spot.
Rooney stepped up to take the resulting spot kick and sent his effort into the hands of the keeper. However, he managed to get to the loose ball ahead of everyone else and made no mistake with his second shot at goal.
Kolarov went on to take a free kick in the 48th minute, as he bent in a near unstoppable shot into the back of the net, which saw City reduce the deficit to just two goals.
Scholes, who was the man who everyone talked about, went on to play a poor pass, which was intercepted by Milner. The http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 international then passed the ball to Aguero, who sent his first effort at the keeper. However, he made no mistake with the rebound,
as he smacked a low shot into the back of the net.
Despite City’s rampant form in the second half, they couldn’t get back in the game and ended up losing by three goals to two in the end.
