FA Cup Match Report: Arsenal vs Aston Villa – Part 1
Arsenal took on Aston Villa in the FA Cup, as the Gunners looked to make their way towards a trophy by the end of the season.
Going into the game, the Gunners were given good news as the ;likes of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Bacary-Sagna-c7148 were all available for the game and were going to be on the bench for the team.
However, with looking stronger than ever, they were bound to put up a good fight for the North London club.
The match kicked off with Arsenal dominating possession and taking the game to their opponents, but they just couldn’t seem to find a way past the Villan defence.
Despite creating a number of good chances, they were constantly kept out by Given.
Villa were awarded a corner in the 33rd minute and the team decided to take it quickly. Petrov and Keane combined near the corner flank and then whipped in a ball towards the far post. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Richard-Dunne-c31070 leaped the highest and nodded a powerful header past the keeper and into the back of the net.
Despite http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429 dominating, they went on to concede the goal through another defensive lapse, which has caused them to concede numerous goals in recent weeks.
Just as the game headed into stoppage time, Villa struck once again, as they took the game to Arsenal on the counter. A through ball was played to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Darren-Bent-c10358, who raced towards the Gunners goal and took a shot at goal. His effort was deflected by Fabianski, but feel into the strikers feet once again. Despite the ball falling to him at a very narrow angle, he managed to curl the ball past the keeper and into the back of the net.
As a result of that second goal, the Gunners headed into the half time break, trailing by two goals to nil. It seemed like the North London club just didn’t know what they were doing and Arsene Wenger was more than likely going to switch things up in the second half.
With so many options on the bench, Wenger was more than likely to switch things up in the second half.
