Bolton Wanderers played host to Macclesfield Town in the third round of the FA Cup, as both sides looked to edge past their opponents and secure a spot in the fourth round.
However, going into the game, Bolton were the hands down favourites to come out on top, mainly because of the fact that they were a much superior side, when compared to their opponents.
However, with the FA Cup having produced its fair share of surprises in the past, there was still a chance of there being a massive upset in the game. Given the poor form Bolton were showing in the Premier League, Macclesfield Town were probably thinking of taking the game to their opponents, in hopes of getting a positive result from the game.
The match kicked off with Bolton opening the scoring just thirty seven seconds into the game.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ivan-c17215 Klasnic darted forward and went on to cross in a deadly ball into the area. Kevin Davies went on to meet the flight of the ball and carefully slide the ball into the back of the net. As a result of the goal, he gave his side a very early lead in the game.
Before the first half came to an end, Bolton went on to double their lead in the game. Tuncay played a through ball to Petrov and the winger went on to meet the ball, ahead of the defenders. Instead of wasting time, he went on to shoot at goal and his hammered effort sailed past the keeper and into the back of the net with ease.
Following their lead in the first half, Bolton decided to hold their ground in the second half of the game. The team created a few chances, but failed to capitalize on them.
As a result, the match ended with Bolton coming out on top via a two goals to nil score in the end.
Bolton are now going to face off against Swansea in the next round of the tournament and that game is bound to be a whole lot more challenging for both the teams involved, given that both the teams are playing at nearly the same level in the Premier League.
