Sunderland played host to Middlesbrough in the FA Cup, as both sides looked to pick up a win. However, following one goal in each half from both the teams, the match ended as a one all draw.
Going into the game, Sunderland were the favourites to come out on top, as the team seemed to be doing rather well in the Premier League and was more than likely to make short work of Middlesbrough.
However, the fact that Middlesbrough had made it so far in the tournament meant that they were doing half decent themselves and weren’t going to be pushovers in the game.
In the 16th minute of the game, Barry Robson went on to open the scoring in the game, as he put Middlesbrough ahead. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Robson-c31388 hit a wonderful left footed volley, which flew into the goal, leaving the keeper with absolutely no chance of keeping the ball out of his net.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Craig-Gardner-c9475 thought he had scored in the 39th minute, as he scored via a brilliant finish in the 39th minute. However, he was ruled to be offside and the goal was disallowed.
Sunderland finally drew level in the 59th minute, as http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Fraizer-Campbell-c13904 scored for the home side. After making a return to the team, following an eighteen month absence Campbell scored the goal that kept Sunderland in the game.
Following some poor loss of possession by Robson, the ball fell to McClean, who darted forward and played a return pass to Campebll. The Sunderland player then sidefooted his effort into the goal as his effort beat the keeper and fell into the back of the net.
However, the match ended with both teams being level at one goal apiece and hence the game would now be replayed next month, as one of the two teams looks to go through to the next round.
