FAA Powerplant Oral Test?

I may be testing this week , and my question is ,,.. If I don't know the answer for an oral question can you go to the AC-65-12A and show the answer to the examiner ?

  1. Usually an examiner will allow you to go to the REGS to find an answer, as no one knows everything.  Being able to find it in the regs ensures the examiner that you know how to use government publications and that you won't just wing it by thinking you know the answer.  Now, you won't be able to keep going to the regs to tell him answers to all of his questions, because he is then going to think your not prepared.  A few times to the regs is ok.

    Your examiner will level set with you prior to start of the exam.  Ask all of your questions about what resources you can or can not use during the oral and how often, if you feel stumped, you can access the resource.  You will be sureprised how much you can use things.

    Good luck on the exam!  We need more A&P's.
