Ok so I am getting ready to the the FAA Privet Pilot written exam and i have been practicing with the Sporty's E6B electronic flight computer and i was wondering and hoping that they let you use it on the real FAA exam. So maybe if any of you have token the test before and tried to use and they let you or whatever. I know you are aloud to use a flight computer but only if it can clear its memory. But I just wanted to make sure. So if anyone knows, It would be very helpful for me to know too.

Here is a picture of what it looks like

  1. if you scroll down to product info on about the 13th bullet point it says "Authorized for use on FAA, Canadian and German exams"

  2. Yes it is legal. The proctor will take out the battery and then replace it to clear any thing stored in memory. Hope you know how to use the "slide rule" type, what you gonna do if the battery goes bad or  if the electronic one  breaks? Know how to use the mechanical and have it handy for a backup.

In the air, the  electronic one is useless.
