Question:

FAFSA...How much MIGHT I receive?

Last year my parents made $53,000. I am thinking about lying on my FAFSA form because I don't think that FAFSA will consider me as eligible to receive federal grants. If I don't lie, how much money could I receive? I am 20. I am a dependent. And my GPA is 3.5 I understand that no one will know the exact amount of grant money I will receive, but does anyone know a good estimate that I will receive (maybe from your own similar personal experience)???

  1. From my personal experience I would not lie about anything on the FAFSA forms. If the government finds out you are liable to return all the money that you misleading took along with a hefty fine.

That's why they make you sign the document and in fine print it states that all the information you provided is correct.

  2. By signing your fafsa and don't forget your parents will need to sign it as well, you are confirming that all the info is correct.  If you lie, you and your parents could get jail time and a 20,000 fine.

It's not worth it because ANYONE can get financial aid regardless of parents income.

If you are a freshman you can borrow up to 5,500 a year in federal Stafford loans plus any state aid and sometimes grants and scholarships.  Here is a good book.

  3. do u have any siblings going to school as well? this will give u more money as well. as long as you arent the only child i think u will receive a decent amount of financial aid. it prob wont cover everything, but atleast half. well, it also depends on what school you are going to.
