  1. No the DRN number is not the amount you will be getting.  The only way to know how much you will be getting will be to get a financial aid "Award Letter" from your schools fin aid office.  They determine your award amount by looking at your EFC number.  The lower your EFC number is, the more likely you are to get free money for school.

On your SAR (Student Aid Report) - the form that has your DRN number on it... it will say "Based on the information you gave us and if all the inforamtion is correct (either you are) or are not eligible to recieve a federal Pell grant".

The Pell grant is free money and always a good thing to get to go to college.

  2. fa office

  3. Very confusing question.

  4. EFC is Expected Family Contribution - basically, what your family is expected to give you or can "afford" to give you

The Data Release Number (DRN) is required to make certain changes associated with the FAFSA you filed. You can make corrections to your mailing address and/or to the schools you listed to receive your FAFSA data. Just call the U.S. Department of Education's Federal Student Aid Information Center (1-800-4-FED-AID [1-800-433-3243]). The DRN also allows you to release your FAFSA data to schools you did not list on your original FAFSA. The DRN is printed in the lower left-hand corner of your Student Aid Report (SAR)
