Question:

FAFSA Question - Different schools in Summer vs Fall-Spring?

Hi, so here's my question... I submitted my FAFSA for my University that I normally attend (I will be a Freshman in Fall 08-Spring 09).

Anyway, I wanted to take summer classes at a local community college and transfer the credits back to my main school in Fall 08.

How would I fill out the FAFSA? Do I just add another school in the 08-09 FAFSA? Or do I fill out another FAFSA and if so, which year?

Thanks for any help...

  1. I don't think you can do this because you can only get financial aid for one school per school year. My friend had spoken to financial aid counselors just a few months back about this and he was told he couldn't do this. I believe it also mentions this on the FAFSA website too. Sorry! Maybe look into student loans or if you have any family that could lend you the money for your summer classes. Most community colleges don't cost anything too crazy. I know at my community college I took 12 credit hours and it only cost $1100.00. Since you are going in the summer you will probably only be going part time. Goodluck.

  2. You will want to check with your school's financial aid office to see if their summer quarter falls under the 07-08 school year or the 08-09 school year. Then you add their school code. Each school's summer quarter is different. My cc school's falls under 07-08 but my university is 08-09. You would also have to submitt your transcripts too.
