FAFSA and my ex wife?

I hav been divorced for 9 years and my ex has never given me child support...Custody is more impt to me...but do I have to include her when I submit our FAFSA forms for my boys? Can I just submit my income as she has been out of sight for 3 years and we have no idea how to reach her/

  1. I think you can not include her.  Since she does not claim your sons on her tax returns and since she has nothing to do with them you should be fine.  Just go ahead and fill out the paperwork and everything.  If you have any questions you can always talk to the Financial Aid department at the school.


  2. I only submit for myself and my sons. I have Been divorced for 17 yrs. There is a spot on the form that says if parents are divorced are you submitting for only one parent.

  3. If you are not married to this women any longer or are legally separated then no, you do not have to include her income or information on your sons fafsas.

    However, if you have since remarried (you are married on the day you fill out the fafsa) then your current wife's  (your son's stepmother) information and income would be on the fafsa.
