  1. FAFSA does need your parent's tax information, but I never had to actually do it myself my mother always filled out my FAFSA

  2. I've never had to. I suggest calling them to understand the situation.

  3. the FASFA? Yep, did it this year.

Just submit what they need to them and it'll be fine.. You'll need a lot of recent tax information.

  4. Yes.  Ask your mother for the paperwork she got when she did her taxes and you should be able to take those to the financial aid office.  They will make a copy of whichever papers they need.

  5. you just got audited...

  6. When you first complete the FAFSA application you will only need to submit your mother's tax infomation online, you never have to mail a signed copy of taxes to anyone.  Once the FAFSA is process and the information is transmitted to the school, then the student may be selected for verification by the Dept of Education, which means that the school will request a signed copy of the mother's tax return.  The school is the only entity authorized to request copies of tax returns.  DO NOT GIVE THESE FORMS TO ANYONE ELSE.

  7. Yes. I was a financial advisor at a University, and some situations warrent this. The univeristy/school should offer you some kind of financial advisor to answer questions about this stuff - contact them, that's what they're there for  :)

    Good luck!

  8. not FAFSA directly, but the university has asked me to send a copy after i completed my fafsa. was it the university or the fafsa site that asked you?

  9. when i filled out my fafsa i didn't need my parents. but, i already had a kid and was in my early 20s. i do have one word of advice- if your parents are divorced use the one that made less money last year. you don't have to use both if they aren't together and using the one that makes less will help you get more.

  10. When you do FAFSA you can do it as an independent (live alone, pay for your own things and file your own taxes) or you can do it as someone that still lives at home and gets added to their parents taxes. If this is the case you need to ask your parents, or parent in your case, for a copy of their taxes to submit or else you can't complete your FAFSA application correctly.

  11. no...they do ask for your parents tax info, and it is very important...but, no they shouldnt need a copy, and not a signed copy at that. the only sig. is at the end of the application, which is your PIN, or with the paper form, you just sign it and get your mom to sign it...

If you think it is however telling yopu that you need a signed tax return form, id suggest calling the 1-800 #.and asking to speak to a actual person not the recording...then just ex. to them what the question is asking, and they can walk you right through it with no problem.
