what does an intelligence analyst do for the FBI? How do they work with the special agents?

Many things, access to many different pieces of information (aka "intelligence data") piece together information to answer "questions".....strong skills in computers, statistical analysis, psychology, etc.  You must pass background checks, get clearance, including polygraph.....

In Fiscal Year 2004 (October 1, 2003 to September 30, 2004) the FBI processed over 50,000 applications and hired 786 new analysts.  

You will have to account for the past 10 years of your life, where you lived, friends...neighbors, they will all be interviewed.  (analysts support special agents)
