FC Augsburg announce the release of striker Michael Thurk- Bundesliga season
Newly promoted side FC Augsburg have announced the release of veteran striker Michael Thurk from the club claiming that the decision was on tactical terms. The club thanked that player for his great performances over the past three
years and will be without his services in the upcoming campaign.
FC Augsburg had a brilliant last season as they finished second on the 2.Bundesliga table and were thus promoted to the first division. Augsburg finished runners-up to Hertha http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Berlin-c7536 with 65 points, winning 19 of the 34 games played.
The club’s General Manager Andreas Rettig revealed that Thurk will not be offered a new contract and that he is free to move to any other club. He admitted that the player has been vital in the team’s success in the past few years
and that is why the club wants and amicable settlement.
“Michael Thurk has been a successful player of FC Augsburg; this is why we are looking to come to an amicable settlement with him,” he was quoted as saying in an interview.
Rettig added that the team wants to part ways with the striker on good terms as he has been a very important player. The GM also revealed that the player has been relieved of his duties and will not be taking part in the pre-season
training.

Augsburg manager Jos Luhukay played down rumours that there has been a conflict with the player and admitted that the decision was made purely on sporting reasons. He insisted that the tactical change means that Thurk has no position
to play.
“First and foremost, it's because of sporting reasons that have made us decide this. After changing our tactics there is no position left for Michael,” the manager added.
FC Augsburg have been promoted to the Bundesliga for the first time in their history and will play their first match in the Bundesliga against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/SC-Freiburg-c40462 at the Impuls Arena on Saturday, August 6.
