FC Augsburg defender Sebastian Langkamp insists draw against Hertha Berlin was a fair result
FC Augsburg defender Sebastian Langkamp has insisted that the team’s draw against Hertha http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Berlin-c7536 was a fair result for both sides. He claimed that it was a game of two halves as Augsburg played brilliantly in the first period whereas the home side had a good game after the interval.
Jos Luhukay’s side drew 2-2 against Hertha Berlin in their last Bundesliga fixture this weekend. The hosts scored two goals after the interval and went in to the lead but Jan-Ingwer-Callsen-Bracker scored the final goal to make it 2-2.
Langkamp claimed that his side scored opening goals and played really well from the start. He insisted that judging from the performance before the interval; Augsburg deserved to win the match but admitted that the home side were good in the second period. He added that in the end it was a fair result as both sides shared the spoils.
“Given our first half performance I'd have to say that it's two points lost, but they came back in the second half so I suppose a draw was a fair result. Actually thinking about it, I have to say we should have taken all three points,” he was quoted as saying in an interview to Bundesliga.de.
The defender added that there is a huge difference in the first division and the second. He claimed that the Bundesliga is far more competitive and requires full concentration. He further added that there were certain lapses in concentration which led to the team conceding two goals early in the second-half.
“You have to stay focused all the time as mistakes are punished mercilessly. We weren't concentrating when they equalized just after the break, which was annoying because we had just been talking about how we were going to play with a 1-0 lead,” he concluded.
FC Augsburg are currently 17th on the Bundesliga standings table and are yet to achieve their first win of their maiden campaign in the first division.
