FC Augsburg manager Jos Luhukay admits he expected a tough time in the Bundesliga- Bundesliga news
FC Augsburg manager Jos Luhukay has admitted that he expected a very tough start to the club’s maiden campaign in the Bundesliga this season. He claimed that his side still has potential and will not give up and will surely try to stay in the Bundesliga
for the next campaign. However, the Dutchman admitted that the displays will have to improve if the club needs to stay in the first division.
Augsburg have had a dreadful start to the current season and currently sit in 17th place with only four points on the table. They are the only side left in the Bundesliga which is yet to secure a win this season and have drawn four and lost four
of the eight games played.
Luhukay insisted that the Bundesliga is surely a very competitive league and the players are finding it difficult to settle in to the quick attacking game. He claimed that the team needs time to adjust and it would take some games.
The manager also defended the recent performances claiming that the side has been unlucky with injury problems in the current campaign also with some of the star players missing games.
“We always knew it would be difficult. Still we will not give up. My team still needs time to adjust to this standard and we knew that this adjusting would need time. This process is not over yet. Due to our injury situation I was hardly able to field my
ideal team,” he was quoted as saying in an interview.
The Dutchman further added that the players need some confidence and stability and only one win could change the fortunes.
“Due to these changes, the players have not found the necessary confidence and stability as a unit. We have been going through tough times already in the past. And we will do this again, now. I am focusing on my team and with really nothing else,” he concluded.
FC Augsburg will next play http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/1-FSV-Mainz-05-c38166 on Saturday, October 15, in search of their first win of the season.
