FC Barcelona and their youth
The Catalan Giants have been in extraordinary form this season and they have proven just that on many occasions. The Spanish Champions have not only proven themselves with their best players but also with the players who are still young and making their
way into the first team. Josep Guardiola believes in playing the young and talented players in the first team as he wants to give them the experience that is required to become the best.
Most Barcelona players who are playing in the first team evolved from their youth academy known to be the La Masia. With Xavi Hernandez and Andres Iniesta making their way to the top with the help of experience it is Lionel Messi who always showed his extraordinary
skill on the ball from day one. Players like Victor Valdes, Carles Puyol, Gerard Pique, Sergio Busquets, Xavi Hernandez, Andres Iniesta, Pedro Rodriguez, Bojan Krkic and Lionel Messi are all a product of the Barcelona youth system and there is definitely no
doubt that the Spanish Champions have managed to make the best players at a young age.
While playing for the Copa Del Rey, the Spanish coach Josep Guardiola decided to play his young guns to win games for his side as the first team was rested as they barely had a vacation because of the FIFA World Cup 2010. The Spanish Giants were to play
against a third tire team FC Ceuta and Josep Guardiola had faith in the young squad as he sent out a team of players who were not experienced at all. While the Spanish Champions went away from home to Ceuta, they won the game 0-4 and did not concede a single
goal as Pedro Rodriguez scored a brace and the Brazilian full back Maxwell also scored a phenomenal goal. With Ceuta coming to the Nou Camp on a return leg, Guardiola played his young players and all of them did a fine job as they won the game 4-0 at home
after an extraordinary performance by the Barcelona centre midfielder Thiago Alacantara.
During the last fixture of the UEFA Champions League, Guardiola knew that his side were definitely going through to the next round. The Spanish Coach again played his young players so that they can do wonders on the pitch while being against a side who managed
to defeat Barcelona last season in a group stage fixture. However, this time round Rubin Kazan had a lot at stake and they were expecting to win in the Nou Camp yet again but after a fabulous performance by the young guns of Barcelona, the Spanish Champions
won the game 2-0 yet again.
Guardiola played Gerard Pique as the only experienced player in the squad and the rest were all the young players of La Masia. Thiago Alacantara managed to give out an extraordinary performance and by his help and with the help of two goals from young strikers
Victor Vanzquez and Fontas, the Spanish Champions won the game 2-0 at home as they topped the table with 14 points and qualified for the next round of the UEFA Champions League.
Josep Guardiola later highlighted his team’s performance and said that the young guns did not disappoint him during a tough game. He said that he loved how the Barcelona fans turned up this time even though he did not ask for support and he added on to his
comments by stating that he is proud of the young players who are doing a fine job even though they do not get many first team opportunities.
