FC Barcelona increase trophy haul as http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Porto-c39186 are brushed aside – La Liga Special
Ever since Pep Guardiola took the reins of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Barcelona-c39078 three years ago, lady luck has not failed to shine on the Catalan side. Amid controversy at every corner, the Spanish side has overcome odds to stamp their authority on world football, taking home everything
there is to win. It is the twelfth trophy that has been added to the trophy cabinet in Guardiola’s short term in charge.
Barcelona overcame a resilient Porto side to win the European Super Cup 2-0 in Monaco. A crowd of over 18,000 witnessed the Catalan side register an emphatic win against the Portuguese champions at Stade Louis II. A win was always on the cards for Blaugrana
as Porto lined-up without their Europa League saviour, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Radamel-Falcao-c30276. Goals from Lionel Messi in the first half and Cesc Fabregas in the closing stages ensured a comfortable victory.
One simply cannot rule http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Freddy-c14144 Guarin horror back-pass and opened
the scoring six minutes before the half-time.
The Argentine wizard was back in the middle of things as he orchestrated Cesc Fabregas’ debut goal for Barcelona. The Argentine international turned provider and delivered an inch perfect chipped pass for Fabregas to volley home. The former Gunners skipper
did not need a second invitation and the ball was duly buried into Helton’s netting. The goal came two minutes from full time, and it speaks volumes about the effectiveness of Barcelona players at the death.
With this win, Barcelona lifted their fourth trophy of the year. Blaugrana already have 2010/11 La Liga title and 2010/11 UEFA Champions League in their trophy cabinets. Guardiola’s squires won the Spanish Super Cup against arch rivals Real Madrid recently
and the victory over Porto adds to their tally and gives them a solid footing for the start of their league campaign.
This is the second time Pep Guardiola has lifted the trophy, having previously won it against Ukrainian football club Shakhtar Donetsk in 2009. They took part in the game thanks to their Champions League final win over Manchester United in Rome. The Red
Devils were bettered yet again in May and Porto were the super cup victims this time around.
In the last three years, Barcelona have won three La Liga titles, three Spanish Super Cups, two UEFA Champions League trophies, two UEFA Super Cup titles, one Copa del Rey and a FIFA Club World Cup crown in 2009. The haul of twelve titles is made even more
amazing given the fact that Barcelona competed in fifteen competitions during this period.
The success achieved by the Blaugrana squad is unmatched as they break records on their way. Easy on the eye and mouth watering when at its best, their footballing philosophy takes all the plaudits and rightly so. The current side is hailed as one of the
best teams of all times, however, such a statement would only be validated over the years. Nevertheless, it can be said with certainty that they are the best side in the world and of the past decade.
