Johan Cruyff praised former rivals Real Madrid, stating that they are a top opposition who are unfortunate to be in the same league as La Blaugrana.
The Dutchman feels that Los Merengues would have earned domestic glory had they been in any other league, highlighting the superiority of Barcelona in the current footballing world.
Talking to Spanish sports daily, AS, the current coach of Catalunya national team stated that Real Madrid have a great squad littered with quality individuals all around.
He reflected on Los Blancos’ pedigree as a competitive team and commented that they are the most difficult team Barcelona face in La Liga.
"In terms of quality, Real Madrid are the most difficult opponent, they are a great team," said Cruyff.
"It is bad luck that they play in the same league as Barcelona, [because] in any other division they would be the best team."
Barcelona did well against Real Madrid in 2011 calendar year. The Catalunya-based outfit played against their perennial rivals seven times without facing defeat, winning on four occasions and drawing thrice. 
Despite their success against Real Madrid, Cruyff stated that in order to retain the Spanish title Barcelona will have to perform against smaller opponents. He stated that the El Clasico derbies are important but they cannot lose their posture in fixtures
against league minnows.
"The most dangerous games for the club are not currently against Madrid, because the players do not require motivation, but against the likes of Getafe. The Catalan club have accumulated 37 points from their 16 Primera Division fixtures, scoring a humbling 50 goals in the process.
