Ligue 1 side, FC Girondins de Bordeaux coach Francis Gillot has urged France national team coach Laurent Blanc to take his chances on Sochaux Montbéliard playmaker http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Romania-c2990.
After spending three seasons at the dug-out of Stade Auguste Bonal, Gillot left for Bordeaux this summer but the Frenchman has not forgotten about the player who played an instrumental role in Les Lionceaux’s fifth-place finish in the 2010/2011 Ligue 1 campaign.
Marvin Martin had 17 assists to his name last season and was the top assist provider of the last campaign. Gillot feels that Laurent Blanc should take his chances on a player who was drafted into the Bordeaux first-team in 2008.
Gillot thinks that Blanc should make changes to his preferred 4-2-3-1 formation in order to make way for Martin as he believes that the 23-year-old midfielder can carry his breathtaking club form to international level as well.
While talking to the media, Gillot said that the young midfielder is more comfortable and productive when he is slotted behind two forwards in a midfield diamond. During his debut season for Sochaux, Martin played behind a lone striker but Gillot changed
the youngster’s position.
"Last season, he had two strikers in front of him, and it's in that season that he delivered 17 assists. Even if in his first few games for France, he's scored twice, Marvin is - above all - a creator of goals, not a scorer of them," said the 51-year-old
former Lens coach.
On September 2, 2011, France defeated http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Samir-Nasri-c32360 came under a lot of criticism from the media and fans for failing to make any impact in both halves.
Gillot now believes that Martin could provide more creativity for the Les Bleus side. Former France international Bixente Lizarazu is also of the same opinion as Gillot and while comparing Nasri and Martin, the former Bayern Munich defender said, that Martin
is a more direct and imaginative player than Nasri and added, “He makes the play skip along more quickly.”
With Nasri failing to replicate his club for to the international level, Laurent Blanc might turn his attentions towards Marvin Martin as the French tactician looks to defeat Romania in a game where three points would almost guarantee France of a berth in
next year’s European Championships in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Poland-c2983.
Currently, FC Sochaux Montbéliard are in sixth place in the Ligue 1 standings after getting seven points from four games.
