FC Bordeaux coach Francis Gillot to be even more tough on his player – Ligue 1 news
Former FC Sochaux Montbéliard coach http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Francis-c13946 Gillot joined FC Girondins de Bordeaux earlier this summer. Since his arrival, the Frenchman has not missed any opportunity to turn on his players and give them his own version of the famous hairdryer treatment
– a termed that’s usually affiliated with Manchester United manager Sir http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alex-c4752 Ferguson.
The Maubeuge native is clearly not satisfied with the performances of his players so far this season and is already showing signs of losing his patience with players who many argue are underperforming. Periodically trying to prick his players’ pride, the
51-year-old wants to see drastic improvement in his side.
The 2010/2011 campaign would go down in the history of Bordeaux as the season when the club misfired and were the most timid of the biggest sides in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/France-c2899. Though Gillot has just arrived at the club, the French tactician is well aware of the site left by
former coach http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jean-c18112 Tigana.
Eleventh in the Ligue 1 standings after playing five games, Gillot’s toughest tests are yet to come. Next week, Les Girondins face Toulouse before they play champions Lille. An in-form Lyon and top of the table Montpellier then await the troubled club.
Incidentally, Bordeaux’s next four league games are against teams that are currently in the top five which makes his task harder.
Many believe that the Frenchman needs time and players also need time in adjusting to the peculiar methods of Gillot. While talking to the media a few days back, Gillot said, “It’s true overall that there is a lack of communication. We coaches are a lot
like teachers who try explaining something to a student but the student doesn’t understand for the first time. After a while, by the dint of repeating the same things over and over again, they finally understand.”
The Gironde coach has now said that he will be looking to change the style of play along with the formation. While talking to the media following his side’s 0-0 draw with Evian TG, Gillot said that although he has deployed two strikers since the beginning
of the season, he might draw back one striker and add an extra midfielder to the side.
The Aquitaine club has scored only five goals in five games so far and Gillot knows that his players must step up a gear if they are to avoid the scenario of last season when Bordeaux were stuck at the bottom half of the table for most part of the season.
