FC Bordeaux still interested in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429 FC – Ligue 1 news
Unlike the summer transfer window where Ligue 1 side FC Girondins de Bordeaux spent not even a single penny on new recruits, the Aquitaine club is now looking to bring in a few players in the upcoming winter transfer window.
Languishing in the bottom half of the Ligue 1 table, Bordeaux have certainly a mountain to climb and despite captain Jaroslav Plasil’s recent claims that Bordeaux are still a big club, fighting from relegation would be the biggest challenge for a club that
won the Ligue 1 Championelle a few seasons back.
The slow descent into the lower position in the Ligue 1 continues and despite a slight improvement in recent weeks, coach http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Francis-c13946 Gillot knows that the current players at his disposal can’t alone steer the Bordeaux ship away from the turbulent shores of
relegation.
Owner Jean-Louis Triaud was not willing to spend money on new players this summer but the Bordeaux supremo knows that his stance has to change if the club is to survive in Ligue 1 this term.
While talking to Radio Gold FM, Triaud said that the club has means to sign new players and is currently working on finding the right players in order to overcome the recent hardships.
Triaud is now also heeding the advice of coach Gillot who has compiled a list of targets to be brought to the Stade Chaban Delmas this winter.
Triaud said that the managements knows which players they want to sign and this time, the club will not be targeting players within the Ligue 1.
Among the potential list of targets is the familiar name of Moroccan international Marouane Chamakh, a man who spent almost his entire career at Bordeaux before joining English Premier League side Arsenal FC for free in the summer of 2010.
After making a great start to life at the London club, the Moroccan has fallen behind the pecking order and has to compete with an untouchable http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Robin-van-Persie-c31380 who is currently in great form. Furthermore, Chamakh has to fight for a substitute place with
new signing Park.
Triaud admitted that he did try to contact Arsenal for the availability of Chamakh who is clearly not happy at his current status with Arsenal.
“I left a few messages on Chamakh’s number a few months ago and also contacted Arsene Wenger. However I did not receive any response from Wenger,” said Triaud.
With neither Chamakh or Wenger contacting the Bordeaux president, it seems that the silence of two men could dampen Bordeaux’s chances of signing a player who certainly needs a lot of playing time in order to resurrect his career – something that he might
not be able to do at Arsenal.
