With the match moving on, Barcelona started to dominate possession in the midfield and up front, and soon it was David Villa who got a wonderful opportunity but only managed to hit the Danish goalkeeper. However, he did get an
opportunity during the 24th minute as a pass from the midfield maestro Xavi Hernandez found David Villa one-on-one with the goalkeeper. Villa took the shot on goal but only found the wood-work as another chance was wasted by the Catalan giants.
With so much excitement in the game and with such a fast pace to it, there were definitely goals expected and the first one came from none other than the Argentinean magician Lionel Messi. A ball coming in for Keita from Xavi Hernandez
found Lionel Messi inside the 18-yard box. However, Lionel Messi could not really shoot the ball into the net and left it for Villa, who passed it on to Messi and the Argentinean striker simply flicked the ball into the net with his weaker right foot to help
his team take the lead in the 31st minute.
In reply, the home side wasted no time in scoring a goal, as they equalized in the very next minute. It was the Brazilian midfielder Claudemir who became a threat for the Catalan giants all over again. As Wendt made a run from
the left flank and dodged Daniel Alves, he shot the ball towards the goal and found the Brazilian at the back of the defensive lines of the Catalan giants. Claudemir made no mistake this time and blasted the ball into the net and even though Eric Abidal came
in the way of the shot, the powerfully struck shot still found the bottom-right corner of the goal as the visitors were simply left stranded.
Soon, the home side got another opportunity to score a goal as Wendt found the ball at his feet right outside the 18-yard box when Claudemir gave him a wonderful through ball from between Gerard Pique and Carles Puyol. Oscar Wendt
went for glory rather than passing the ball onto Dame N’Doye, and Victor Valdes made no mistake in saving the goal (and the day) for his side.
The first half was simply a thriller, with goal-scoring opportunities flying in from both sides and even shots that found the target. The second half is not going to be any less exciting than the riotous crowd in the home ground
of the Danish side FC Copenhagen. Who is going to take the top spot in the group stages? We can only find out when the game finishes.
